Welcome to the Library Page!
We are so excited to announce that our school will be participating in Accelerated Reading this year! Beginning on August 29th, students will be able to check out books, read and test on them throughout each week. Students will be given AR goals based on their STAR testing results. These results will also determine what level your student will be reading on for the nine weeks. The goal of the AR program and STAR testing is to help your child grow in reading and encourage them to push themselves toward their goals.
Students will be able to attend AR celebrations if they meet their goals at the end of each nine weeks. To be eligible, students must meet their AR point goal AND have 85% overall accuracy on their AR tests. Please share with your child how important it is that they learn to read well. We don’t all start as great readers! Reading is a muscle that must be worked out in order to make it stronger.
Please help your children take care of their library books. There will be fines for lost or badly damaged books so that we can buy replacements. If it is damage that I can fix, then you will not be charged, but you must send a note to let me know. If a student loses a book, that book must be found and returned or paid for before they can check out another. If a student has not returned or paid for a lost book by the end of the semester then they will be unable to receive their report card. Students will receive a Family Checkout Contract to sign stating that they will take care of their books. These will be kept on file in the library.
We can’t wait to see your students at our AR celebrations!!!
